From Quora (quora/ryan-polselli): Breast Cancer Awareness: Can faulty implants cause breast cancer? No. However, implants in general can make screening for cancer slightly more difficult for the interpreting physician (radiologist/breast imager) and require additional pictures to be taken at the time of a mammogram. Also, the general appearance of the implants can be seen on the mammogram and any large defects such as significant ruptures are usually (but not always) reported by the radiologist. I would recommend you talk to your doctor and/or radiologist to discuss your concerns. There are a few complications to consider if you think your implant has ruptured.
