From Scituate Town Hall (officially) TOWN OF SCITUATE MASSACHUSETTS 2013 Swim Season - Results from: 7/23/2013 Humarock, Peggotty, Egypt, Minot Closed Under MDPH regulations for beaches guidelines, beach operators must test all public ocean beaches for bacteria each week, using the enterococcus indicator organism. Under that guideline beach sampling will be weekly during the swim season, June until Labor Day. Single-sample test results cannot exceed a specified number of bacteria colonies per 100/ml sample. If they do, the beach must be closed to swimming. The maximum contamination is 104 Enterococci/100 ml. for ocean waters. There are 6 beaches that we test: Humarock, Peggotty Beach, Sand Hills, Egypt Beach, Lighthouse and Minot. Maximum Contamination Level: 104 (would result in beach closing) Enterococci/cfu/100 ml Tests done 7/23/13, results as follows: Humarock - 810 = CLOSED Peggotty - 730 = CLOSED Lighthouse - 10 SandHills - 20 Egypt - 450 = CLOSED Minot - 260 = CLOSED Retesting will be done today and results will be available late tomorrow.
