From The Front Porch at the Farm Saturday August 23, 2014 What is ischemic heart disease I ask? Its the term given to heart problems caused by narrowed heart arteries. When arteries are narrowed, less blood and oxygen reaches the heart muscle. This is also called coronary artery disease and coronary heart disease. This can ultimately lead to heart attack. I was scheduled for Surgery on August 4, 2014 but during Pre-Op it was discovered I like many Americans have had ischemic episodes without knowing it. These people have ischemia without pain — silent ischemia. They may have a heart attack with no prior warning as my EKG and further studies indicate. In addition, people who have had previous heart attacks or those with diabetes as I do are especially at risk for developing silent ischemia. I am thankful during pre-op this condition has surfaced so precautionary measures can be taken. With weight loss, proper diet (if it tastes good spit it out) exercise and medication this will be manageable. Now that all that is settled the rescheduled Total Knee Replacement is on for this coming Monday Aug. 25. Be Blessed today FBF
