From Tom Reiland: The August Star Parties are this weekend at Wagman Observatory starting at 8:25 PM (Aug 9 and 10) and running until the sky explodes, with meteors. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate for Friday and Saturday nights. The Perseid Meteor Shower peaks next Monday afternoon (Aug 12) between 3 and 4 PM EDLT. This means that our best opportunity will be Sunday night/Monday AM as the best night to look for meteors, followed by Monday night/Tuesday AM. Wagman Observatory will leave the gate open, but you must turn off your headlights and not use any flashlights if you arrive after dark. The best times will be from 1 -5 AM both nights.
