From VK3AML, Melbourne, Australia (Chris Long): Tonights (Friday 23rd January) Japanese HF RADIO FAX NEWSPAPER transmission from their Singapore relay on 16035 kHz, KYODO NEWS, English language text transmission, every weeknight (except Sunday) at 11 pm Melbourne time, 12 hours UTC. This page takes 35 minutes to transmit at 60 lines per minute. This is a Tokyo-based newspaper which maintains fax transmitters in Japan and Singapore to send their content to Japanese fishermen in international waters, and to cruise liners. The KYODO NEWS FAX broadcasts are always worth a decode for those with the facilities to try it, as much for the interesting Asian perspective on the news as for the receiving technique.
