From Wayne: Sunday morning. Well, thats the first week of the tour done and dusted. 7 shows in the last 8 days. Ive enjoyed it immensely so far, and Im feeling more comfortable night by night with being on stage on my own, whilst all the shows have been very different. Ive played songs that have surprised you, and even surprised myself in some instances (Swoon last night in Winchester springs to mind). And in ways that I never thought Id even contemplate. I mean, Crystal Ocean on the Ukelele? Its fun for me seeing where the songs can go each night and with each new audience. One disappointment for me is the fact that I have only used the looper once so far (in Leicester) as I keep getting distracted and forgetting. So many songs and so little time. Aside from Bilston, where there was a little communication problem between myself & the audience, I have been playing 2+ hours each night. I look at my watch and wonder where the time goes, Im having that much fun. All the shows have had their special moments for me and I really couldnt pick one as being better than the others but a couple of personal highlights was Olivia, my niece, coming to see her Uncle Wayne for the 1st time in Bristol on her 12th birthday. I enjoyed you singing happy birthday for her, as Im sure she did too. Another very special moment for me was asking my old school friend, Brian Powell, to join me onstage in Brighton to play 4 songs together. Brian and I were in our school band together 40 odd years ago so it was lovely to not only see him but to also play with him again after all these years. We did play that old venerable favourite, house of the rising sun, together which is one of the very few songs I remember playing in our school band when we were kids. So, Graham and I move onto Leeds tomorrow, Monday, Sheffield on Tuesday, Liverpool Wednesday, Oxford on Thursday, and Aldershot on Friday. There are plans afoot to maybe be joined onstage in Sheffield by a special guest or two, Ill leave that up to your conjecture. Come along, the shows are fun, loose, and their very success is dependant on the interaction between you and I. If youve been to any of the shows this last week Id like to hear what your personal highlight has been, your favourite moment or song, or something that has surprised you. Also, I know weve sold a fair few songs of candlelight & razorblades CDs during the last week so Id also be very interested to hear what you think of the album, what songs you like best, and Ill make sure to try and play them during the upcoming shows. Also what you think of the t-shirts and postcards we have for sale too. Let me know, eh. Thank you for helping to make the first week so much fun. 8 down with 43 to go but, hey, whos counting?
