From a bipolar:I can certainly identify with your daughter. At my last job, which I worked at for 9 years, I was called into the boss office several times to be scolded for my behavior. The last time a group of people went to Human Resources to complain about me and I was almost fired. I got so furious that I quit (a very good job). 2 days later I was in the hospital. I eventually went back to work (my husband called and told my boss what was up and she forgave me). I was a very different person. Anxious and slowed down. Unable to concentrate. Lacking creativity, etc. I went off of meds twice after that because either I thought I didnt have bipolar disorder or that the meds made me feel bad. After both times I went into the hospital. It took me a long while to find a medication mix that made stable AND feel reasonably normal and The Real Me (a nice me). But I found it, and here I am. Perhaps if your daughter is told there are bipolars out there that found themselves again, it would help. Finding the right med mix takes time. You need patience. After 36 or so years I finally learned patience. I hope your daughters acceptance of bipolar disorder doesnt require that she suffer more severe consequences.. There is hope. I just wish they would seek help sooner. Most only seek help when made to or something tragic happens.
