Job Description Search for Common Ground Pakistan Position Title: Project Coordinator - Preventing Youth Violence in Karachi Status: Karachi; Full Time Background Search for Common Ground is a non-profit organization with the mission to transform how individuals, organizations, and societies deal with conflict--away from adversarial approaches and towards cooperative solutions and collaborative problem solving. Currently working in 34 countries around the world in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, SFCG uses a multi-faceted approach, employing media initiatives and working with local partners in government and civil society, to find culturally appropriate means to strengthen societies capacity to build peace and social harmony: to understand the differences and act on the commonalities Summary of Position SFCG implements a project entitled “I Am Karachi/Mein Hun Karachi: Preventing Youth Violence in Karachi” in Lyari Town, Orangi Town, Korangi Town, Saddar Town and Gulshan Town. This project will identify and empower college students from violence-affected communities to develop skills in community leadership, peace-building and conflict resolution. This project will counter youth violence by empowering mobilizers and influencers of positive social change, and through engaging with the relevant stakeholders including law enforcement agencies, civil society, media and communities affected by violence. SFCG is recruiting a Project Coordinator for the project. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Executive Director, the Project Coordinator will: • Provide leadership in planning, implementation and evaluation of the Preventing Youth Violence in Karachi • Implement project activities in a timely manner ensuring good quality action and credible outcomes. • Review implementation and performance to evaluate progress on work plans and budgets. • Develop a coordinated work plan and integrated training programme for partners and beneficiaries including Karachi colleges and universities • Arrange Civil Leadership Training Workshops, Advanced Leadership Trainings and City Peace Dialogues for youth participants, their parents, family members, community elders, peers and other civil society stakeholders • Organize and facilitate trainings, workshops,and dialogues for Karachi youth, parliamentarians, media, community leaders, peers and other civil society stakeholders • Assist in preparing program media content, visibility materials and build knowledge resources and archives • Facilitate the monitoring and evaluation process for the project • Lead administrative and logistics functions of the SFCG Karachioffice • Any other relevant task required to facilitate project progress Qualifications and Experience: • At least 5 years of experience in conducting thematic project management in an international organization/National Organization, and/or non-governmental sector and/or academic/research institution; • Masters degree in Conflict Studies, International Relations, Mass Communications, Political Science and/or other relevant discipline. • Sound knowledge ofthe voluntary and non-profit sector in Pakistanincluding and especially Karachi. • Demonstrated ability of working on complex projects that are strategic in nature and national in scope. Proven experience of drafting reports and developing budgets. • Experience in advocacy including the ability to identify policy recommendations on the national and local level. • Excellent verbal and written skills, comfortable using social media, and can tailor these appropriately for a diverse range of audiences.
