From a member: Please post anonymous..i have fount is group to be so informative. It seems to help many ppl and their relationships with their vets. Thank u for that. I have been dating a vet of iraq. Ive seen first hand the ups and downs, the verbal abuse, bizare haviors. He even left me in the middle of the woods in the dark for three hrs once and came back crying and saying how could i have done that. Ive refered to this page for help in understanding ptsd and what my boyfriend of a yr and half has been thru. Last weekend i came to his house and caught him cheating, i didnt have time to get much of a word in before knocked me to the ground and stomped me. I was in hospital for the day and still very bruised. Although im done with that relationship, i still had sympathy bc he went to serve his country and came back a monster. It wasnt until today that i reached out to someone that knows him. I found out that he never went to iraq. Never saw war and the stories he was telling me were his brothers experiences. He was national guard and the only sand he saw was in training in nevada. Im having alot of trouble processing this bc for a yr and half i have excused his mistreating me bc of ptsd he never had. And mostly i am beyond pissed at he made a mockery of those true soldiers who fought and endured some horrible things. I dont know what to do with this kind of betrayal.
