From football to food and some updates for those eyeing or bound for NYC restaurants: I recently visited, for the first time in a very long time, Telepan, in my own hood on the UWS. It has had a (successful) decorative revamp and the food was terrific, esp. the house-smoked brook trout with blini and sweet apple sour cream, an appetizer that, if youre there, is a must . . . swung back around to one of my regular stops, Perla, in the Village, and was nearly as taken with the bucatini as with the orecchiette that I always get . . . and at Terroir Tribeca the other night, the meatball sandwich hit the spot in such a satisfying way. Meatball sandwich: just typing those words makes my stomach growl. Meatball sandwich, meatball sandwich. Now a tape loop in my brain. Is it lunchtime yet? . . .
