From my friends wall: Managers do the right thing. Leaders do things right. So many people forget that very basic bond of loyalty. You treat your people right, you get more than you could ever dream of. You treat them correctly, you merely get what you want. Please be careful with your words and deeds. Read and re-read your emails before you send them. Dont reply to an email out of frustration and anger--youll end up hurting people even if you dont mean to. You tell us to practice patience when we deal with our people...I think we also deserve some of yours as well. No matter how much you want to yell at or scold someone--remind yourself why you are there and what your role is. If you wanted an employee, then by all means, do whatever you want. But if you want a performing employee, then BE AN INSPIRATION and not a FRUSTRATION. Please, learn to TRULY LISTEN. When someone speaks out, thinking of an immediate rebuttal is not listening. Its arguing. Please, lend an ear to hear about what your people are worried about. You will be surprised on how much you can actually accomplish IF ONLY YOU LISTENED. Always remember to say thank you. That means so much. We dont even need to bribe them with extra money or treats. Just a simple gesture of appreciation is worth more than a measly P1000 increase in the next payout. You know who you are. You are in a position that is capable of making or breaking a person. You are in a position where you become the difference between passion and hate for work. I hope you read this, and I hope you get something out of it. You know who you are. If you think this is for you, but youre not really sure...if the shoe fits, then feel free wear it.
