From my house to yours: I started homeschooling my girls simply because there was not another option that worked for my family... I could no longer afford to send them to a private Islamic school and public school was out of the equation altogether... I had no idea how I would be as a homeschooler... Would my children keep up with grade level? Would I be able to keep them on task and give them the instruction they needed? Will I be organized? Each marking period I get to see how well my friends and families children are doing in school when they post report cards and awards... I seldom post updates on how my children are doing with their homeschooling... This morning while doing their lesson plans and checking their online progress reports, I started to get emotional... Both my eighth grader and my fourth grader are doing exceptionally well in all of their studies... They both hold A averages and are consistently in the 90 percentile for test and quizes... Sajwa is now taking honors courses... Pre algebra and two sciences to prepare her for high school... Shanaz is becoming more confident with independent learning... Her vocabulary is so vast... They both read well above their grade levels... For all the parents who are worried about homeschooling, but has an inclination that it may be what is best; I say take a leap of faith... You can do wonders with your children...
