From my inbox: July 18, 2013 Dear Friend: The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is currently considering changes to New York’s freshwater fishing regulations. The statewide changes being considered include: increasing the minimum size limit and adjusting the season dates for muskellunge, prohibiting the take or possession of sauger, clarifying the definition of catch and release, adding madtoms and stonecats to the list of acceptable baitfish, and simplifying ice fishing regulations to allow for a total of seven ice fishing lines. You can view the DEC’s complete list of statewide and regional proposals – along with descriptions and the rationale behind each proposed change – by entering the following URL into your web browser: dec.ny.gov/outdoor/91959.html The DEC will be accepting public input on these proposals now through August 16, 2013. Please take a moment to review these items and be sure to share any concerns you have with the DEC. Sincerely, Bill Larkin State Senator
