From my practice of writing condolence messages on my friends - TopicsExpress

From my practice of writing condolence messages on my friends wall, I now find myself at the receiving end this time. The feeling is surreal, to have lost someone younger in your family, unexpected, disbelief and shocking feeling all tangled up in one emotion. It truly makes a difference to read all the encouragement messages on my wall, the power of solidarity shall never be under estimated. Thank you all for the kind messages, I truly appreciate the sharing of burden. Every little bit helps. He is in a better place now. For the whole day today I was trying to rationalize the loss, and tonight I have finally found it. God is truly great with His all-encompassing and infinite wisdom. Allahuakbar. Before I retire for the day, let me share with you one of my favourite poems by W H Auden: Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead, Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves. He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong. The stars are not wanted now: put out every one; Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun; Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood. For nothing now can ever come to any good.
