From my readings in the Holy Scriptures this morning as we minister the Gospel and preach the holly, eternal, inerrant written Word in Cameroon west Africa… Meditations on today’s Attribute of God: #58 Sovereign Psalm 83:18 That they may know that Thou alone, whose name is the Lord, Art the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 103:19 The Lord has established His throne in the heavens; And His sovereignty rules over all. Isaiah 14:24 The LORD of hosts has sworn saying, Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand, Acts 4:28 to do whatever Thy hand and Thy purpose predestined to occur. 1 Corinthians 12:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. Ephesians 1:5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, Ephesians 1:11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, Readings from the Gospels: From this passage what is something that God wants me to… Know: Luke 5:21-24 21 The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22 But Jesus, aware of their reasonings, answered and said to them, Why are you reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, Your sins have been forgiven you, or to say, Get up and walk? 24 But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins, — He said to the paralytic — I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home. (Devotional Thought: Jesus use of the term “Son of Man” when referring to Himself was not that it emphasized His humanity, as this would not make sense. Rather because it was a universally accepted prophetic term for the Messiah, the Son of God. Thus His statement concerning His ability to not simply heal but also to forgive sins. Daniel 7:13-14 “The Son of Man Presented I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.” Jesus never presented Himself as merely one of the prophets of old who could perform miracles but rather He always knew, understood and presented Himself as the Christ, the Messiah, as God Incarnate. John 14:9 “Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, Show us the Father ”? Be: Luke 5:8 “But when Simon Peter saw that, he fell down at Jesus feet, saying, ‘Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man!’ (Good cross-reference Luke 18:13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me, the sinner!” Do: 5:1 The First Disciples Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret; (Devotional thought – Jesus is our example in the use of the holy, eternal, inerrant written Word of God in our ministry. Luke 24:27, 44 & 45 “Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. Now He said to them, ‘These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures”,
