From my sister: Hi Friends- An update on Sarah, Ray and our family. We are doing as well as we can be doing. My sister Melissa, my mom and I are with Sarah and Ray in the hospital- smiling, singing in hairbrushes, eating Chipotle, trying to explain to Melissa who Katy Perry is and what Hulu is and talking about that one time my husband took an ambien and lost his mind and then discussing theology! We are doing what families do when it hurts. We are crying, smiling, laughing, being quiet, thanking God for his love, cursing the world for its cruelty, re-counting stories that we have shared with hundreds of you as your names and precious prayers come across our Facebook feeds. We are just being family and it is good. Speaking of family- the family of Christ- each of YOU has held us, prayed for us, carried us and loved us in a way that has blown us away. Our family is humbled and so grateful. Ray and Sarah are also endlessly grateful for the excellent, compassionate care that each and every doctor and nurse at @MercyHospital in Oklahoma City has given them. We have been absolutely blessed by the staff here; their professionalism and compassion have truly been Mercy to our family. Sarahs doctor just came in and said she was so glad that Sarah was not in ICU and that she was alive. It was that serious. Many of you have asked about Sarahs health. Heres the update on that: Yesterday her white blood cells peaked at 32,000, her resting heart rate at 160, and her blood pressure was 80/50. She was dangerously ill. We are so grateful the doctors and amazing doulas were able to help induce labor quickly in order to get Sarahs life out of danger. Today Sarahs white blood cell count is still in the mid-to-high 20,000s and the doctors are aggressively fighting that with multiple forms of antibiotics. Her fever is gone and she is not experiencing ANY physical pain. The doctors will receive preliminary pathology reports tomorrow and base Sarahs care on those results. They will determine whether she can be released from the hospital then. Next Saturday we will celebrate Maggie and Ellens life and have a graveside service for family and close friends in Shawnee, OK. We are going to release 160 balloons for the 160 days the girls were with us. It will be our families third funeral in six months; my sisters, mom, dad and I appreciate the continued prayers as we try and process and heal from a really tough year. The funeral costs are going to be between $2,000- $3,000. We are also hoping to set aside a fund to help cover the cost of a getaway trip for Ray and Sarah when they are ready to go some place in the new year and seek healing together as a couple. If you would like to contribute to that, we will keep the site below active. Thank you will never suffice. Your love and prayers- flooding in from all over the world- have carried us to The Healer to be made well. gofundme/f63sig Click here to support Maggie and Ellens Miracle Fund!
