From our Secondary School Team As some of you may be aware, myself and Mrs Claudine are attending a workshop in Berlin this week. The purpose of this workshop is to learn more about the impending changes that the International Baccalaureate Organisation is making to the Middle Years Programme. This “Next Chapter” will bring a few changes to the planning and assessment of the IB MYP. At ISL Surrey we like to be at the forefront of what is happening in international education, and as such we will be implementing these changes for the next academic year. Mrs. Claudine will be attending the workshop that is for Heads and Coordinators which is specifically looking at ‘How to Deliver the MYP Curriculum’ and the ‘Next Chapter’. I am attending a workshop that specifically is looking at how the “Areas of Interaction” are transitioning to “Global Contexts”. Both of these are ways to contextualise the learning of our students. In last week’s bulletin I shared some information about the new Global Contexts. However, not all of the Areas of Interaction will be disappearing. Both “Approaches to Learning” and “Community and Service” will remain as vital parts of the pedagogy of the MYP. Ms Maaike is our Community and Service coordinator and she has been working with our students to help them make meaningful contributions to the school community and beyond. . Kind regards, Mr Kamran - MYP Coordinator
