From the Archives: a historical excerpt... The earliest church in Winfield was the Anglican Church of St Margaret built in 1931. The first minister was Rev. Despard. For many years Rev. Lett preached both in Winfield and Oyama Anglican churches. The United Church held services in homes and in the Community Hall until 1932 when the Ellison United Church building was moved to Winfield. The first minister was Rev. King. In 1949, after the old church burned down, a new one was built on the same spot, just above the Elementary School on Berry Road. The Roman Catholic church of St Therese was built in Winfield in 1948 at the corner of Lodge Road and the main highway. The Seventh Day Adventists, Methodists, and United Missionaries also have churches in Winfield.
