From the Canyon Corridor Board: At around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, Fire Chief Allen issued this update: "Flames are visible tonight on Mount San Jacinto. However, I want to emphasize they have been there all day, but were blocked by smoke. Fire officials are in Palm Springs and have eyes on the fire line continuously monitoring. This fire activity on the mountain is expected and you will continue to see it for the next few days. Palm Springs residents have no need for alarm." Also, late this afternoon, the community of Idyllwild, and all parks and campgrounds in the Idyllwild area were placed under evacuation orders.
