He didnt waste any time....And hes using shittyhall math 5 acres = 21 acres...wait until lucas or another 1% wants land no problem he can give it away hes FRIGGIN KING....Mayor Rahm Emanuel offered another spirited defense Wednesday of his push to use public park land for a proposed Barack Obama presidential library near the University of Chicago, but dodged a question on why hes not adding new public green space to compensate for all the land that would be dedicated to the complex. Proposed parkland for University of Chicago Obama library bid The mayor formally introduced an ordinance to the City Council to transfer at least 20 acres in either Washington Park or Jackson Park to the city if Obama decides to build his library and museum in Chicago. After the council meeting, the mayor was asked why his plan calls only for seeking to replace with new public green space the five or so acres of park on which the library building would sit, rather than the full parcel the presidents library would take over in a long-term lease. The mayor responded by defending his record of adding open public land to the city during his first term and said replacing the land on which the library itself would sit would be a win-win situation. He then launched into his oft-repeated case for the library based on the economic impact, the jobs, the cultural and educational enrichment that happens for the city. Its still going to be open land, I think were addressing the concerns where the building is, and thats the right way to approach it, he said.
