From the City of Greeley: Subject: Greeley – High Water Update – June 3 at 8:45 a.m. New Information High water continues to move through Greeley closing streets and approaching neighborhoods in low lying, flood prone areas. However, upstream monitoring indicates that the current river levels will begin dropping in Greeley in the next 24 hours. New Closures: • 25th Avenue from F Street to O Street • D Street from 11th Avenue to 4th Avenue (Island Grove Park east entrance) • Island Grove Park – portions of the park are underwater including Field 5 Sports Field Voluntary Evacuation Notices Still Effective: Evacuation Area 1: F Street on the north; 2nd Street on the south; 35th Avenue on the west; and 25th Avenue on the east (25th Avenue is not a through street—this boundary would align with 25th Avenue). Evacuation Area 2: 5th Street on the north (includes addresses on both sides of the street); 7th Street on the south (includes addresses on both sides of the street); 6th Avenue on the west (includes addresses on both sides of the street); and the Poudre River on the east. Due to high water and debris on the Poudre River, road closures in Greeley: Road Closures • 5th Street from Hwy 85 to 5th Avenue • 6th Avenue from the Poudre Bridge to 3rd Street • 35th Avenue from F to O Street • 71st Avenue at the Poudre River • 83rd Avenue at the Poudre River • 95th Avenue at the Poudre River Greeley’s Water Pollution Control Facility in east Greeley is not threatened at this time. All Previous Cautions Remain in Place • Use caution while traveling along the Larson Ditch and Sheep Draw Trail corridors, including the McCloskey Natural Area, Pumpkin Ridge Natural Area and Hunters Cove West Natural Area flash flooding has occurred during and after recent storms. • Greeley officials are asking that residents stay clear of all river banks as the banks can become unstable as water levels rise. • If motorists see water over roads they are advised to not drive through that water Turn around. Don’t drown.
