From the DailyMail (UK) Online: Alexandras parents said they had called paramedics after a local Catholic priest refused to perform an exorcism on the three because they were not regular churchgoers. I have real doubts it was as simple as that: according to the Rite of Exorcism, the Church is REQUIRED to take exceptionally sceptical view, demanding that any one claiming possession must first be brought to the attention of medical and psychological professionals first, who must rule out any medical or scientific reason before the Church would even consider getting involved. One doesnt simply walk in to a church and get exorcised. The ritual is a religious event: science and medicine take priority before any religious sanctions by the local bishop - since he alone, not a parish priest - authorizes the *solemn* rite of exorcism.
