From the Desk of Commissioner Joel Vetter - Like any facet of government, the fire district levies taxes and has a public trust to ensure that the taxpayers’ money is used appropriately, and therefore the well-informed person — like wanting to know who is on the town board or school board — should also be aware of how their Fire and Emergency Medical Service protection is delivered. During the last 5 years of my first term, we have maintained the tax cap; have increased revenues; streamlined spending; expanded lifesaving services; addressed life safety programs; addressed critical infrastructure and remain fiscally conservatively. Compared to school and police budgets, it’s pennies per day, it’s still real money, and the informed taxpayer should be aware that their money is being spent appropriately. My cumulative experience since joining the department in 1989, has seen the department and district benefit from a board of commissioners with mixed backgrounds and perspectives. We must emphasize the critical community action of informed voters with an understanding that a well-rounded board is in the best interest of the department members and the overall community served. I’m asking for the Holbrook Communities support in re-electing me to Fire Commissioner for a second term. Our goal, though simple, is to remain committed to serving as commissioners and help guide the district to insure superior service throughout our community. I’ve proved that we will work hard and address the easy and hard topics and continue to move forward in the best interest of the community. Invites and messages to those you know within the Holbrook Fire District is greatly appreciated. Questions are encouraged. Fire District Residents please Re-Elect Joel Vetter Fire Commissioner - 12/9/14 from 9am to 9pm – 390 Terry Blvd.
