From the House Chairman I Hope you have been enjoying the fantastic summer golfing season. It is great to see so many Members & Visitors making full use of the Clubhouse & Patio. The newly opened Spikes Bar & Lounge Bar has made a massive difference to the comfort in the Club, a really good job carried out by G R Edwardes & Mac Builders. It was a great revelation when the wall came down that we could see through to the 18th from the Spikes Bar and to Colmers Hill from the Lounge, very attractive views. Both areas have been used considerably more, bar takings are up and the Clubs new vending coffee machine is a big bonus too, the increased income will pay for the work in a short space of time. The biggest bonuses of the wall being removed, is the free flowing air removing the stuffiness/heat from the bar, a quiet area to sit in during a function without feeling cut off, an area to sit for a quick coffee before a game without having to remove shoes, and a much more social area to relax for a quick drink if when your time is limited in the 19th. I hope you are all enjoying the new area and coffee machine. Hartleys & staff continue to serve us very well, the feedback from Members,Visitors, Societies & Functions has been excellent. If you do have any comments to make about the Catering/Service, please ask at the bar to see Andrew or Becky, they are extremely approachable and very happy to receive your feedback. We were sad to say goodbye to Charlotte on the bar, who was with us whilst on a year back home in UK from Denmark, but Andrew, Karen & the team are serving us very well. Dont forget to use your card for 10% discount off drinks at the bar and 15% off wine! We have a new gardener, John Newman, from Beaminster, who is doing a sterling job. The House Committee dont have any projects for the immediate future, although plenty of ideas! Any money spare will go to the greens budget to keep up the great improvements by the Green Team on our beautiful cliff top links course, our greatest asset. Happy Golfing by the sea.
