From the OEF President First of all, thank you for your continued support of Oklahoma Earthbike Fellowship this past year. The club has so many great things happening that couldn’t be done without you. I wanted to take a moment to let you know where your dollars are going and the importance of trail advocacy. At the beginning of the year, our insurance provider dropped us and nearly every other club across the country. This was last minute and we were left scrambling and after many long hours, we found a provider. This came at a cost, more than double actually, to the club. This demonstrated the power of advocacy and led us to IMBA. IMBA reached out to us and we have been extremely excited to become an IMBA chapter. They provide many powerful tools and benefits to OEF, as well as to OEF members. Our transition was completed September 12th. This means that whenever you join OEF, you will also become an IMBA member. Likewise, everyone who joins IMBA in our territory will be invited to become an OEF member as well. For those that like to give a little extra, donations will accepted at okearthbike and will go directly to OEF. Joining IMBA has given us the opportunity to reach out to other groups in Oklahoma. There are cycling groups that are currently working on becoming satellite chapters of OEF, so be on the lookout for some additional announcements. More members allows your dollars to go further. Instead of each group paying for insurance, taxes, and other things to keep a club going, this money can be focused on the trails. We are excited to continue to grow and bring in other clubs and trails. OEF is currently working on our Trail Aid event by reaching out to the community for help. We will have more announcements to come, but look out for some awesome t-shirts to purchase and a gathering to meet fellow riders and build a better cycling community. OEF elections are coming up and we will be accepting nominations during the October and November meetings. In case you forgot, our meetings are typically the first Thursday of the month. Even if you aren’t a board member or officer, but have some special skills (web developer, tax specialist, social media, lawyer, screen printing, etc.) and want to donate some time, we will be happy to discuss ways that you can give back. Let’s not forget that Red Dirt Rendezvous (RDR) is coming up September 21st, so please come race, watch, or volunteer. We have some great prizes planned for the race, and we’ll be on-hand to answer any questions regarding the integration with IMBA and how you can get involved! Thank you, Josh Musgrove OEF President
