From the Officer’s/Pastor’s desk (Sunday 18 Aug, 2013) WHAT DO WE SEE!!! There is nothing in us or done by us, at any stage of our earthly development, because of which we are acceptable to God. We must always be accepted for Christ’s sake, or we cannot ever be accepted at all….This is not true of us only when we believe. It is just as true after we have believed. It will continue to be true as long as we live. Our need of Christ does not cease with our believing; nor does the nature of our relation to Him or to God through Him alter, no matter what our attainments in Christian graces or our achievement in behaviour may be. It is always on His “blood & righteousness” alone that we can rest. 19th Century Princeton theologian B.B. Warfield. When we lose the centrality of the cross, Christianity turns into a religion of self-improvement and becomes about us, about our accomplishments and about getting our act together. We can learn to look at the cross in our everyday life, for there we see the perfect image of what life should be like. We see ourselves as “forgiven people of God”. We see others as forgiven and on the same journey as we are, just different. We see such power and transformation in the cross, where Jesus sacrificed everything for US!!!!! When we live every moment in light of the cross, there we find a life that is full of abundance, forgiveness, fulfilment, love, grace & mercy in the everyday things & people. We find interacting with people a lot less stressful because we see them through the eyes of Jesus and the cross. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (MSG) Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.
