From the Public Access to Court Electronic Records website at https://pacer.gov/announcements/general/heartbleed.html Important Security Notice As widely reported in the media, a vulnerability (dubbed the Heartbleed bug) was discovered in the technology used to protect user IDs and passwords on publicly accessible systems. While there is no indication PACER accounts were impacted, it is advisable for all users to change their password as a precautionary measure. To be effective, your password must be difficult for others to guess but easy for you to remember. A strong password consists of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and at least one symbol. Take the following steps to help keep your PACER password safe: Make sure your computer is actively protected by keeping your anti-virus software up to date. Never share your PACER password. If anyone else knows your password, it’s no longer secure. When an employee leaves your organization, use your PACER Administrative Account to deactivate their login. Change your PACER password regularly to prevent unauthorized use of your account. Log in to the Manage My Account section of this website to change your PACER password.
