From the Verde Independent Clarkdale man killed in Camp Verde accident At about 6:22 p.m. Saturday evening (Nov 2), Camp Verde Marshals deputies were dispatched to a serious two-vehicle accident on SR 260 and the Wendys restaurant, at (MP 218) west bound. The accident was a rear-end collision with a white Toyota sedan crashing into the tail end of a tractor-trailer. The Toyota sedan was crushed and both the passenger and driver had to be extracted. 36-year old passenger, Daniel Thornburg of Cottonwood, was airlifted to John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix and the driver, 37 year old, Charles M. Zunitch of Clarkdale was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Arthur Wozniak of Litchfield Park, Arizona was uninjured. At this time, there does not seem to be any impairment of either driver and the accident remains under investigation with assistance from DPS and ADOT. The scene immediately became a multi-agency effort, with assistance of surrounding agencies including, the Camp Verde Fire Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Arizona Department of Transportation, and Yavapai Apache Police Department.
