From the Virginia Department of Transportation: Interstate 95 - TopicsExpress

From the Virginia Department of Transportation: Interstate 95 and primary roads in the Fredericksburg region are clear this afternoon, and motorists will encounter wet pavement with isolated areas of slush and ice remaining on primary roads in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews made progress today treating and clearing roads in the 14-county Fredericksburg District as snow, sleet, and freezing rain subsided. Crews have moved into subdivisions and lower-volume secondary streets to apply sand and salt. Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing tonight. VDOT crews will patrol area roads overnight to treat slick and icy spots. Crews will focus on keeping Interstate 95, interstate ramps, primary roads and bridges clear and ready for the morning rush hour. Motorists traveling tonight and tomorrow morning should allow extra travel time, reduce their speed and proceed with caution. Hazardous conditions may be present, especially on roads carrying less traffic, and bridges, overpasses, and interstate ramps. Before starting a trip, travelers can call 511, visit 511Virginia.org, or use VDOT’s 511Virginia free mobile app to find real-time road conditions in any area of the state. VDOT’s Customer Service Center is open 24 hours a day to answer questions and take reports of roadway hazards at 800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623).
