From the archives: Occasionally, one is told to: "Go to Hell!" Not a terribly pleasant thought This is of course a vengeful sort of a statement, intended to somehow show utter contempt to the object of the vocalization. Perhaps it might be better, and even more contemptuous, to tell some one to "Go to Heaven!" Would this not place the object of scorn before the throne of the Almighty, from whose presence heaven and earth are known to flee? How much more terrible to be before him guilty than away from him in hell. If one would consider further, going to Heaven might cause the object of said scorn to see the sinfulness of his heart and being. Such a revelation should cause the object to flee to the cross to receive grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Such a flight would create a new object entirely, dealing away with the old object outright. This would have the same effect of the object being sent to hell with the added benefit of receiving a new object in the process of being remade in the image of its Creator. Far better to tell them: "Go to Heaven!"
