Quite a few of the deities revered are actually different forms of a particular god, which were assumed for a specific reason. For instance, according to mythological tales, Parvati, Shiva’s consort, has appeared as Durga and Kali many times, and interestingly, there are numerous forms of Durga and Kali as well.
