From the comments: Rancorr Well, yknow the trope of sticking a contemporary character in a different (time/place/reality) setting and letting them cut loose with referential remarks to pop culture clawing at the fourth wall in a comical fashion? Imagine that with puppets, CGI, space epicry (its a word, I swearz), and topped with the glory unbridled, geeky metaness and thats Farscape. While there have been tales of Yankees in King Arthurs court for decades, Farscape was perfecting the modern pop culture reference gig long before Joss Whedon stopped being that guy whose shows get cancelled, and Troy and Abed in the Morning ever existed. Its not for everybody but those of us it is for love that frelling bastard-child show to death. It had a modest budget, a sense of adventure, a squishie heart thats not saccharine, and unbridled creativity. And a puppet whose pee can kill.
