From the day one of my arrival in Manipur, a far north eastern state in India, I have been reminding of Jaffna, Vanni and the whole of north Lanka. History of violence, draconian laws like AFSPA, Strong and ugly presence of Military Forces in every inch of civil life, warm and beautiful people, haunting landscapes and tormenting stories of death and despair almost make North Lanka and Manipur the same bloodspots in the map! Today is the tenth death anniversary of Manorama Devi who was raped and killed by military personnel and am right now sitting with the hundreds of widows of extra judicially killed men sharing my film on enforced disappearances in lanka. Am so torn and bleeding inside to be in the midst of these portraits of hundreds of lost lives and their harrowing stories! Why violence? Why not Peace? Where is Love?
