From the desk of TM Rommel Jimenez Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison… These people have failed, but failures did not stop them from reaching their dreams and ambitions. Life is full of obstacles; unfair past and unfair people, but they are not excuses for us to have an unfair future. The people who succeed are not necessarily the most talented or the most intelligent. ...Rather, they are the most determined, they persevere, and they never give up. They see failure as a set-up for something big in their lives. We all have experienced failures in our lives. So let me encourage you all to KEEP MOVING. It was a successful 62nd Digerati Toastmasters Business Meeting, thanks to the following, who were pertinacious in preparing for this meeting: Role Players: MTM Josie Conlu-Romulo, our Sergeant at Arms, established order in the meeting, which started on time. MtM Josie effectively presented the Club’s mission and the ground rules for the meeting. Our President MTM Darlene Dandan welcomed everyone with a big smile. Obviously eager to keep all in attendance get motivated for the whole meeting. The president gave a brief history of a Toastmasters Club and brief overview of Digerati Toastmasters Club annual events which encouraged everyone to keep moving. MTM Kimberly Amores, our Word Master, shared with us the word Pertinacious which means persistent, persevering and patient plus the idiom Move Heaven and Earth. Our first time to introduce the idiom usage and MTM Kimberly was successful in giving us full details of how and when to use both the word of the day and the idiom properly. MTM Annie Corpuz, our Timer for the night, closely and efficiently tracked the time for the whole duration of the meeting. Her efficiency was one of the key elements of our successful meeting. MTM Belinda Balce, our Table Topics Master, who challenged MTM Rizalina, MTM Belle, and Guest Nessy with the question How do you motivate yourself to Keep Moving forward? Initiated a contest like session for the preparation of the upcoming club contest early next year. MTM Florence Bautista radiantly delivered a well prepared grammarian session that gave us another pointer to be use in our everyday lives- How to enhance your diction. TM Ramsundar Dharapuram brought the trivia session into a higher level with his splendid delivery. Thank you for the chocolates! He gave us more reasons not to neglect any role that we should do in every meeting! Kudos to you TM Ram! Speakers: MTM Priti of HSBC TM Club effectively gave us a summary of the world’s best with her speech “Seven Wonders”. MTM Socorro powerfully instilled in us the grace of sharing in her speech “Helping people is my way of life”. MTM Mirasol provided us with an inspirational detail of her struggles in life and how she was able to overcome each one with her positive attitude and mind set with her speech “Struggles” MTM Fely Rose delivered a unique and special way of introducing herself to us in her Ice Breaker speech “Peculiar Vine” thus making everyone more pertinacious in preparing for our future speeches. Evaluators: TM Luis, TM Marlon,TM Nap and MTM Lakshmi examined carefully their target speakers and provide each one an inspirational evaluation to boost their confidence as well as the points for improvement, teaching them how to make their future speeches more powerful and effective in meeting their speech objectives.
