From the field- the modes to reach !! By GOONJ 11 photos Non-stop heavy rains and landslides, continuing damage to the roads are hampering relief and rehabilitation work badly in Uttarakhand. Even if individuals are somehow reaching different areas by changing vehicles between landslides, reaching trucks to affected towns and villages has been a tedious task. Tomorrow onwards we will be uploading a new series of reports of our work there. Goonj teams are doing extensive surveys and village meetings on livelihood, schools, solar installations and medical needs apart from reaching out to thousands of families in Guptkashi (Trijuginarayan area), Mayali, Uttarkashi (Gangori, Sangamchatti and Bhatwari),Tehri(Thatyur belt). Over 30 trucks and 30 small vehicles of dry ration, medicines, utensils, blankets and other necessary items have reached the affected people so far. Apart from supporting some enthusiastic groups of volunteers like Boond and Sahil, Goonj is using all possible channels: from small vehicles, villagers, trekkers, mountaineers, volunteers to porters and mules.
