(it is long but I do hope you will read it) Dedication To Keith Milano Dear Keith, Although we have never actually met, I wanted to let you know that you have changed my life in inexplicable ways. In ways that I never imagined possible. Some might say that it was a mutual love of books that introduced me to your sister, Denise. I, however, believe that you had a hand in that introduction. You, a man who suffered in a way so many people still don’t understand, brought us together for reasons far greater. Thanks to your family’s courage and strength, so many of us have learned your story. And through your story and those who have stories similar, we are learning that there are options, there is help. Mental illness is still misunderstood by so many, but there are people who understand the darkness is real, and it needs attention. It wasn’t until recently that I was able to share my own story about my battle with depression. This, my friend, is something that I am forever grateful to you for. You have made me stronger. So, from your perch high above us all, as you look down upon us, I hope you can see all of the lives you’ve affected, all of the people you have helped, and all of the love that has been reserved just for you.
