From the story below Historic preservation was championed during the Clinton and Bush years, first with Hillary Clintons founding of the Save Americas Treasures program and later through Laura Bushs support for a program focused on preserving the countrys cultural and natural heritage. However, the Obama administration pointed to the two programs for elimination in 2010, saying the benefits were unclear. Thanks, Mr. President, and your disingenuous political hacks who would rather pretend they were being fiscally responsible than actually looking at data and benefits. On any objective measure this as been the worst administration for historic preservation since the passage of the National Historic Preservation Act in 1966. This isnt a partisan attack on Obama. Presidents of both parties, liberals, conservatives, moderates, have expanded the nations commitment to its heritage. This administration has reversed decades of that commitment.
