From this discussion with Saed Erekat who had attempted in the past to give Jerusalem to Israel, we can understand why the PA approach has failed. The PA believes that its job through the negotiations is to save Israeli and Palestinians lives. Now, he says that Palestine is alone at the negotiating table against Israel and all the western governments, which makes it almost impossible for him to accomplish anything. That causes us to ask why he stays at the negotiations table alone, while Israel uses the negotiations as political cover for its further expansion and entrenchment in the West Bank and his emphasis on saving Israeli lives makes his job more difficult still because it turns him against his own interest. It means he comes to the table already compromised.Now, we need to ask where did Erekat get the idea that the PA is negotiating to save Israeli lives? Who else believes that comes from the US State Department? Armed resistance is the only way to liberate Palestine.
