From time I want to feature questions asked on the page, and my responses. This question is from Mayra Calvani: What would you say to writers whose partners dont support their writing careers or dreams of becoming an author? --- My answer: Persevere. Keep going. Dont ask for approval or support; dont even bring up the subject. Dont give the spouse any opportunity to say or do anything negative to harm you or your morale. But on your own, keep writing, and seek any social support you need outside of your relationship --- with a writers group or with another close writer friend. And when you succeed, celebrate with others. Tell your spouse politely that youre headed out to celebrate the acceptance of your first novel with your writing buddies. And when the first good reviews come in, call those buddies and share the good news with them.
