From time to time in the interest of education someone, somewhere, - TopicsExpress

From time to time in the interest of education someone, somewhere, comes up with an idea that is so far out there I end up getting involved. Heather Sweeney triggered tonights tale as she has asked for some help for one of her students. A local butcher had a few Angus cattle at his small farm and I ended up breeding his old MaMa cow a couple of years in a row. He was a kind, generous man and found out that I used a lot of cattle reproduction organs in my work. An arrangement was worked out when he got the reproduction organs from a donor he would call and I would go pick them up. If I wasnt in the area Stephen Smith would retrieve them, freeze them, and I would go visit Steve to pick them up. The first time Mike called I was on the road but told him I could pick them up in a few days from Steve. No sooner had I hung up the phone than I had a request from a high school student who I had trained inquiring if I had any tracks and equipment that he could borrow to use in a science fair at his school. This was his lucky day. I told him I would drop off the items the first of the week and pick them up on Friday, the fair was to be held on Thur. I stopped by Steves house and picked them up, took along an ice chest and the equipment and dropped the items off on a little side hill farm just off of I-88. I told the lad how to thaw the track out over a couple of days and how to preserve it when he was done with it. Friday I went back to pick up the repro track and my equipment and I asked him how it went. He hemmed and hawed a bit, then told me it was a good thing that there was a veterinarian at the function, or the entire gym would have been evacuated. Not only did Mike give me the entire repro track from tail to the ovaries, he included, at no extra charge, about 6 feet of the rectum. complete with its content. The kid told me when they unwrapped the plastic bag from around the track the smell was overpowering, the vet stepped in and took the item outside, excised the extras and cleaned it up for the lad. Probably the only enema she had ever administered to a deceased cow. Hmmm, I wonder what ever happened to that young fellow..
