From truthrevolt.org:ight the Pro-Islamist PC at Brandeis University On Tuesday, Brandeis University caved to pressure from student and faculty activists and rescinded their invitation to human rights activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali to receive an honorary degree from the school. Ms. Hirsi Ali, an outspoken champion of womens rights and strong opponent of violence in the name of Islam and female genital mutilation, was herself raised a Muslim before fleeing an arranged marriage in Africa and immigrating to the Netherlands. She is a Fellow with the Future of Diplomacy Project at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. She was a member of the Dutch Parliament and a founder of the AHA Foundation. She also wrote the screenplay for the film Submission, the movie about women abused under Islamic customs which was directed by, and led to the assassination of, Theo Van Gogh. According to an official statement from Brandeis, it is her statements about Islam that caused the invitation to be withdrawn: She is a compelling public figure and advocate for women’s rights, and we respect and appreciate her work to protect and defend the rights of women and girls throughout the world. That said, we cannot overlook certain of her past statements that are inconsistent with Brandeis Universitys core values. Interestingly, those core values have not prevented the school from hosting known antisemitic personalities like Max Blumenthal, and giving awards to anti-Semites like Tony Kushner and Desmond Tutu. Please join us in protesting this miscarriage of justice by calling the office of Brandeis President Frederick M. Lawrence and asking why rampant antisemitism isnt deemed inconsistent with Brandeis Universitys core values, but speaking out against violence in the name of Islam is?
