Fruit Juice Cause of Tooth Rot in Youngsters...@DrMarilynG A major study from Government agency Public Health England - the first of its kind - examined the teeth of a sample of 53,640 three-year-olds at nursery schools. Shockingly, they found that on average 12% had tooth decay. Repeating the trend across England means that nearly 85,000 3-year-olds have rotten teeth that need filling or even extracting. According to a Public Health spokesperson, fruit juice is the biggest culprit because if it is given in a beaker or bottle it can be sucked on for hours on end, slowly eroding the teeth from the fruit sugar contained in the juice. Any juice that is given should be delivered in a cup for quick consumption or through a straw & diluted with water. nwph.net/dentalhealth/reports/DPHEP%20for%20England%20OH%20Survey%203yr%202013%20Report.pdf?dm_i=VOQ,2XMRP,9LBO9X,ALDOE,1
