Fulbright Program for U.S. Students 2014/2015 - Last Information Session Before Campus Deadline Wednesday, August 7 12-1 p.m., 2609 School of Social Work Building The last information session about the U.S. Fulbright Program before the campus deadline (see below) will be held on Wednesday, August 7. The session will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in room 2609 SSWB. Laptops are welcome and encouraged. Description: The purpose of the Fulbright Program is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and other countries. The U.S. Department of State makes Fulbright fellowships available to approximately 1,700 U.S. students annually to study, conduct research, teach English, or train in the creative arts in more than 135 countries worldwide. At the information session, a U-M Fulbright Program Advisor will describe the application and selection process and provide suggestions for making your application more competitive. Language requirement: Varies by country. Eligibility Criteria: To apply for this program through the University of Michigan, applicants must (a) be U-M students, alumni or staff; (b) be U.S. citizens; (c) have completed an undergraduate degree by the beginning of the award; and (d) demonstrate the language skills necessary to complete the proposed project. Deadline: The U-M deadline is September 9, 2013 at noon. Advising: Applicants should attend an information session and familiarize themselves with the Fulbright website, paying particular attention to the About, Countries, and Applicants sections. After attending an information session applicants should meet individually with the appropriate Fulbright Program Advisor: Kelly Peckens ([email protected]) is the advisor for graduate students, professional school students, and all applicants in the arts. Open office hours for advising on a first come, first served basis from 1:30pm to 4:00pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (walk in, call in, or Google chat during those times).
