Fully Charged: Stunning Aston Martin concept car glimpsed, Foursquare gets more useful and SimCity finally hits Macs All the latest tech news headlines to brighten up your morning commute ASTON MARTIN DBC CONCEPT REMINDS US OF ANOTHER SUPERCAR… It isn’t often we see a new potential Aston Martin trotted out, so Samir Sadikhov’s DBC concept is certainly welcome. With its mid-engine layout and a departure from the traditional Aston long hood, though, it strongly resembles another breed of supercar altogether: yep, it looks a lot like a Ferrari. The red probably doesn’t help. The concept’s silhouette, however, is designed to recall one classic Aston of the past: the DBR1. True, the Music System+ doesn’t have Apple’s AirPlay tech, but it will stream wirelessly from pretty much anything over Bluetooth, as well as play CDs (remember those?) and tune into DAB, DAB+ and FM radio. You can pick one now for around £700. FOURSQUARE TO PUSH AUTOMATIC, LOCATION-BASED TIPS VIA NOTIFICATIONS Foursquare to push automatic, location-based tips via notifications Foursquare has been around for four years now, and many people still don’t really understand what the point of it is; the problem for founder Dennis Crowley seems to be a lack of a clear identity. The app recently shifted its focus from a check-in location service to more of tip- and rating-driven recommendation engine for bars, restaurants and other attractions, and that has helped – but Crowley hasn’t stopped there. This week he revealed that the service will offer automatic, unbidden recommendations based on your location. There’s no need to even open the app: the tips, compiled via algorithm so that they’re personalised to each user, will arrive in your phone’s notifications tray. The idea is to “remove friction” from the service. It’s rolling out to Android users from today, so you may be able to see for yourself if it makes Foursquare more essential very soon. Well today’s your lucky day (if the whole thing doesn’t fall over and die, like it did for several weeks after the PC launch), because it’s now available – after a long delay – for purchase and download through EA’s Origin online service. If you already own the PC version (even a physical boxed copy), you can download the Mac edition for no extra charge. There’s also cross-multiplayer between the PC and Mac versions, so you can play with your mates no matter which platform they’re playing on.
