Fun that non-LDS congregations here and there in the world do have and make use of this hymn in their services. The Mormon pioneers really had some serious suffering when booted out of the borders of the United States. The shocking thing to realize is that, according to human nature, their own scripture declares that they brought all of that upon themselves. More recently, LDS Church President, Gordon B. Hinckley, pointed out that unfavorable attention Mormons receive or persecution is largely brought upon themselves. He constantly plead for the LDS people to cease from egotism, elitism, conceit and pride of any kind. What a grand and great message.
