**Fundamentalism** The spread of religious fundamentalism is not limited to America, as many people believe. Many friends from various countries tell me, oh that is only a problem in America. They do not realize it is growing world wide. It is alive and well in Africa, it is growing even in China. Thousands of men and women are traveling to China posing as teachers whos main purpose is to spread this cancer. These teachers in disguise are sponsored by right wing churches, and bible College/ Universities. The term fundamentalism usually has a religious connotation indicating unwavering attachment to a set of irreducible beliefs, but fundamentalism has come to be applied to a broad tendency among certain groups, mainly, although not exclusively, in religion. This tendency is most often characterized by a markedly strict literalism as applied to certain specific scriptures, dogmas, or ideologies, and a strong sense of the importance of maintaining ingroup and out group distinctions. The Church of God, Assemblies of God, Baptists, and others right wing ideologues are very active in the pursuit to spread this intolerant, racist, antiquated dogma. Simply attend a sermon at one the aforementioned churches some Sunday morning. It will be the equivlant of a degree in this intolerant dogma. Thinking this fascist approach to religion is limited to a small group in America is similar to believing a common worldwide disease is limited to a small group of citizens in one nation. This disease is to date, incurable, and spreads like wildfire when the flames are fanned by those who have the disease. All religions have fundamentalist and as mentioned above they they have an unwavering attachment to a set of irreducible beliefs. This includes a strong sense of self importance which excludes all other beliefs by any means, including all out war against the nonbeliever of their particular dogma. bp
