Funmibi Ojo writes: A FOOLS IDENTITY! A negative incident happened to a little girl. When her brothers heard this, they were displeased! Two of her brothers, who couldnt control themselves, decided to take laws into their hands and killed the culprit and his people. The two brothers thought that was the best way they could express their displeasure about their sisters loss! They forgot that, no matter the killings, it cannot restore what their sister had lost! When it was time for their father to bless his children, on getting to their turn, he cursed them instead! ...Cursed be their anger, so fierce, and their fury, so cruel! I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Israel” (Genesis 49:5-7). The real problem with Simeon and Levi was their anger (in their anger they slew a man). Their anger was evil because it was characterised by deeds of fierceness and cruelty. But God later saw the faithfulness& loyalty of Levi during a period of rebellion, and had mercy upon the tribe of Levi! Though, the Levites never possessed their designated region like other tribes did; but through Gods grace and mercy, they became the Lords! Anger is a fools identity! A man that cannot control his anger is called a fool! Proverbs 29:11(AMP): A fool utters all his anger, but a wise man holds it back and stills it. Unrestrained anger is the cause of a great deal of sin. Anger is a spirit! When some people are angry, they loose control and destroy things around them, even to killing others. Anger leaves devastation in its wake, often with irreparable consequences. The Bible even warns us not to be a friend with an angry man; his counsel shouldnt be taken because of his unstable nature and inability to control his passions. When anger is a defining trait in another’s life, it is an indication of the lack of the spiritual gift of self-control which characterise all believers (Galatians 5:22-23). A man that displays anger will always be limited! His anger will hinder people from helping him and also hinder God from using him/her! My dear brothers/ sisters, we cannot overrule the fact that there are situations or people that bring offences, we may not be able to avoid that; but we can control our reactions during this period with the help of the Holy Spirit. Lets stop giving excuse that its not possible; IT IS with the grace of God. Even when we are angry at sin, we must make sure we do not hurt the sinner. Any form of offence that leads you to become abusive, have hatred, or speak evil words against a person is sinful! When Jesus was angry at those buying and selling in the temple, he only took out those sinful acts but never exhibited cruelty nor hurt any! When it seems as if we are offended, we should learn to be still& quiet! Even when the deed done is so annoying, we should assume our lips are locked and hands tied! We should also always ask ourselves this: If Jesus is in my shoes, what will He do? This will help us in bringing ourselves under the control of the Holy Spirit, to the stage that we dont get moved by what people do. The grace of God will be so sufficient that He helps us to forgive even before offences comes! Anger is a carnal nature, it is one of the works of the flesh, and a man still living in the flesh/ exhibiting the works of flesh cannot see God! Still battling with anger and has caused you a lot of damages? Why not cry out to God Now; let Him take you into His Divine theatre room and uproot every seed of anger and other carnal works in you. May God plant in us the Christ-like nature of gentleness, meekness, humility and submission which attracts His presence, glory and blessings in Jesus name-AMEN! Funmibi Cares but GOD CARES MORE!
