Funny experience for me this afternoon watching the new Hunger Games movie...wild extravaganza and special effects and gorgeous costumes as well as Jennifer Lawrence couldnt keep me in my seat past one hour and half and it wasnt nearly over - nonetheless, the dark theme of killing or be killed with one black trick played after another by the evil empire president on the two main characters with minor down-trodden characters disposed of early on finally left me cold and decidedly disenchanted - I left the lovely, historic Grand Lake theatre (used to go to that theatre as a kid) gladly and caught my bus home almost immediately. Good break - it was dark outside and the dark movie reminded me why so many people are flocking to see the Hunger Games because fear is the main deal these days and the movie makes it seem as though that in spite of everything - things could be worse in a world that has been going mad for a long time...
