Funny how it is . Everyone wants to be first, to be looked after before someone else. Now we are Sapphire, Chairman, Emerald, Club and a number of other statuses. It irritates me that a piece of plastic empowers people to board first, seek service sooner, be handled differently or to be perceived as being something better than the rest. No one waits anymore,No one has patience, No one extends courtesy, I want this ! I want that! That is not what I was told. Why cant we all rationalise that we eat breathe, sleep and die the same way. the fact that money has given you a coloured plastic card that enables you more is a total travesty. Service is and should be given fairly as duly required and equally. Mr obese American hello Joseph Im American Airlines Advantage was his introduction today. I am ready to check-in. Sir I am here on my own awaiting my colleagues , you and all those people in line will be attended to when my they arrive. At the gate the aircraft had just landed passengers still disembarking, plane to be cleaned. he screamed out to me Joseph I am ready to board I smiled and allowed the dozens of other sharing the flight look at him disdainfully. At boarding he asked Do you think I will make my connection to Los Angeles in Nadi? I smiled ruefully and said Yes, most assuredly-you and about forty others are connecting on the same flight.
