Further to suburban garage based offices. What we did have on Stoner was two phones, one local, one Hollywood. They were both wired into the kitchen, with an extension on the Hollywood line available to a small window cut in a bedroom wall (I think it was the boys) through which the instrument could be passed to the garage whenever a call came in from God knows who. A buzzer system was also in place, so Mom could play secretary, summoning Dad from his front office to take the call.
